Cambodia is, definitely, the hottest place we have ever visited.
This country welcomes you with around 35 Celsius degrees and a dry air that overwhelms anyone, but knowing that you will stay at a hostel with a pool, pool sofas and air conditioned in the room make it a little easier to handle the visit. Due to this and more, we chose to stay at Mad Monkey during our visit to Siem Reap.
Cambodia is now an agrarian country with a difficult past. Wars and lot of death are part of its past, but also Angkor Wat and their majestic temples.
Preparing to our visit, we booked from Costa Rica a tour to discover Siem Reap temples, however, our driver never showed up as agreed. Thanks to Mad Monkey. We didn’t waste much time and they saved our visit to the temples by providing tour services with local people that will help you to visit those majestics sites on their tuk tuks.
Mad Monkey Hostel has a pool (just about we need in the hot wheather), air conditioned in all rooms, wifi and Cambodian craft beer. All together gets a score of 10!
This hostel is close to Pub Street, a tourist street in Siem Reap full of restaurants an fun things to do. Also, just about 2 walking minutes from a supermarket, a backpacker’s best friend.
This hostel offers shared rooms and private rooms.
You can find shared rooms from 4 people to 12 people, with a price from 7 to 8 dollars per person. Also, you can find private rooms for 2 and 3 people for a price from 20 to 24 dollars per room.
The only thing that this hostel doesn’t include is breakfast, but this is easy to fix since in front of the hostel you can find a really good European style bakery with ridiculous prices where you can have a coffee and some pastry for a couple of dollars.
